Course Objectives The aim of this course is to explain the mechanics of the pelvis, lower extremities and gait and the responses of tissues to stresses and pathological changes, to teach to interpret the relationship between mechanical principles and movement.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • classify the mechanical principles of motion and explains how to use these principles in the analysis of human movements;
  • develop problem solving skills by interpreting the functions and mechanics of body joints, and mechanisms of joint problems;
  • list kinematic and kinetic values for dynamic activities involving lower extremity joints;
  • define balance, weight transfer and orientation planes;
  • discuss the mechanics and pathomechanics of pelvis, hip, knee, ankle joints and foot.
Course Description This course covers movement and mechanical principles, mechanics and pathomechanics of pelvis and lower extremity joints, balance, orientation, planes and coordinates, normal gait mechanism and pathological causes of gait.
