Course Objectives The aim of this course is to learn the etiopathogenesis and pathophysiology of diseases, the basic morphological changes that occur during diseases.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • define the mechanisms of cell injury, adaptation and tissue repair;
  • explain the general features, types, systemic effects, morphological findings, characteristics of cancer, etiology, molecular basis and nomenclature of inflammation;
  • explain the pathogenesis and morphological findings of hemodynamic disorders, thromboembolic diseases, infarction and shock;
  • define the pathogenesis and morphological findings of infectious and genetic diseases, environmental and nutritional disorders;
  • list the pathogenesis and morphological findings of hypersensitivity and immune system diseases;
  • describe the pathogenesis and morphological findings of diseases originating from the central and peripheral nervous system;
  • list the etiology, pathogenesis and morphological findings of diseases of muscles, bones, soft tissues, joints and the cardiovasculary system.
Course Description This course includes cellular response to stress, cell injury and death, acute and chronic inflammation, tissue repair and wound healing, hemodynamic disorders, thromboembolic diseases, infarction, shock, neoplasia, hypersensitivity reactions and immune system diseases, environmental pathology and nutritional disorders, and nerve, muscle, bone, soft tissue, joint diseases and cardiovascular system diseases.
