Course Objectives The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of sports physiotherapy, physical fitness test parameters applied in different groups, measurement and evaluation methods and treatment approaches applied in sports and injuries and to ensure that they are reflected in practice, to define sports injuries and recovery processes, to teach the principles of rehabilitation after sports injuries and to ensure that the athlete returns to sports safely.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • describe the duties and responsibilities of a sports physiotherapist;
  • describe the recovery process in sports injuries;
  • will be able to define first aid and pre-treatment in sports injuries;
  • will be able to comprehend the measurement and evaluation methods used in sports injuries, define injuries in athletes and discuss acute, subacute or chronic rehabilitation methods;
  • explain the principles of prevention in sports injuries, external and internal risk factors;
  • discuss functional rehabilitation and return to sports criteria;
  • classify applications including banding techniques.
Course Description The content of this course consists of the competencies of the sports physiotherapist, the prevention of sports injuries, physiotherapy and rehabilitation in sports injuries, functional rehabilitation principles and the criteria for returning to sports.
